The International Institute for Technology & Management (IITM) had its first graduation ceremony a few days back at the JW Marriot, Dubai. Over one hundred graduates were felicitated by the Director of LSE External study, Rosemary Gosling, at the ceremony. The graduates had successfully completed the University of London’s undergraduate degrees in Business, Accounting & Finance, Banking & Finance, Information Systems & Management, and Economics & Management with the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) as the lead college, providing academic direction for these programs. The impressive graduation ceremony had many distinguished members of the local finance community in attendance and the keynote speaker was Mr. Ramesh Venkat, SVP, Yield Management, Emirates airlines. The International Institute of Management and Technology (I.I.T.M.) held its first graduation ceremony at the J.W. Marriott, Dubai. I.I.T.M., based in Knowledge Village, aims to provide quality education to its students by giving them a chance to study in the external students program of the University of London (UoL) in association with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The graduates were Diploma in Economics and BSc. degree holders of 2007 and 2006. Ms. Rosemary Gosling, Director of the External Studies program from the University of London, attended the event along with Mr. Ramesh Venkat, SVP, Yield Management, Emirates airlines who was the keynote Speaker. The chief guests, Ms Gosling and Mr. Venkat felicitated the graduates in the scroll-receiving ceremony. "Graduation is a culmination of many years of effort and toil: not only by the students, but also the staff, faculty and near and dear ones of the students, each of whom contribute in their own way. This sense of relief and joy was clearly writ large on the graduates' faces. The graduation ceremony was a well organised affair attended by a packed audience comprising students and guests including parents and key dignitaries from the corporate world, all of whom appreciated the opportunity this programme afforded students in the region keen on pursuing a high quality UK degree in Dubai. This is testimony to the popularity and recognition of the IITM-University of London degree programmes , which is definitely one of , if not the AdvertisementOAS_AD('Middle'); most challenging programme(s) offered by any college in the region. The success of these graduates will only spur motivated students to join this programme in the future" said Sudhir Kartha, Chairman, Board of GovernorsOver 85 students graduated from the degree program, watched over by their proud families. The valedictorian, Madiha Aslam, who graduated with first class honours, rendered an informal, yet emotional speech. The cap-throwing ceremony, a traditional part of graduation ceremonies, was carried out with great aplomb and excitement on the behalf of the degree graduates. They were also in for a surprise which was planned by their juniors: a 10 minute movie showing memorable times over the years spent at I.I.T.M., which was a cause for loud cheering and inevitably, moistened eyes. Dinner followed, after which the students were entertained by ‘Absolutely AWOL’, the resident I.I.T.M. band followed by DJ Sameer. I.I.T.M.’s graduation ceremony was a resounding success and the first of many more memorable graduations to come!
