he Mon Kingdom Hongsawatoi Destruction Memorial Day

The Mon kingdom Hongsawatoi was invaded and annexed by Burman king Aungzeya in 1757. The destruction caused hundreds of thousands of Mon people left their mother land due to the fear of unprecedented bloodshed genocidal cruelly massacring a large number of innocent non-combatant civilian Mon men, women and children plus more than 3,000 Mon Buddhist monks.The purpose of to hold Memorial Day is to remember the ever existent independent Mon kingdom, to devote merit to a large number of innocent ancestors who have been killed by Burman soldiers, and to strengthen unity among Mon people.
